This is not just a conference. It’s a pathway forward for water, land, and future generations – Okanagan Nation Alliance

Watershed Ecosystems Project researcher, Professor of Indigenous Studies, and Program Coordinator of the University of British Columbia, Okanagan’s Interior Salish Languages program, Dr. Jeannette Armstrong presents her keynote talk, siwɬkʷ as Life – Past, Present and Future, at the upcoming siwɬkʷ Water & Climate Forum. Hosted by the Okanagan Nation Alliance, the Syilx-led forum takes place March 23–24, 2026, at the Delta Hotels Grand Okanagan Resort in Kelowna and brings together regional, provincial, and international leaders to advance collaborative, climate-resilient approaches to watershed governance and Indigenous water sovereignty.
Dr. Armstrong’s keynote is scheduled for March 23 (Day 1), 9:25–10:05 AM, and will contribute Syilx knowledge and leadership to the forum’s central dialogue on caring for water across generations, jurisdictions, and knowledge systems. The two-day gathering is designed as an action-oriented space to strengthen relationships and move from shared commitments toward collective watershed action in the face of intensifying climate pressures.
As climate impacts intensify, the Okanagan–Similkameen is testing what’s possible – Okanagan Nation Alliance
