We are an interdisciplinary team of researchers and community partners assessing critical linkages and interactions in the sqwʔa (Peachland Creek) watershed in the Okanagan.

Research Activities

Hydrology

Assess the cumulative effects of forest disturbance, land use, and climate change on silwɬkʷ (water) quantity and quality

Urban Water

Risk assessment of cumulative effects and other stressors to downstream community silwɬkʷ (water) supply

Fish

Risk assessment of cumulative effects and other stressors to kəkniʔ (kokanee) habitat and population levels

Syilx Knowledge

Risk assessment of cumulative effects and other stressors on Syilx values

Integrated Modeling

Create a tool to explore watershed outcomes in the context of different management trade-offs and climate change

Governance

Develop an inclusive watershed governance model for sqwʔa (Peachland Creek)

Extensions

Connect researchers within the Watershed Ecosystems cluster with individuals and organizations outside of the University
